SUPPORT
We are often able to assist projects and people in need only in so far as we ourselves receive assistance and gifts. We have no regular or fixed source of income an are dependent on the goodwill of other Christians, churches and donors. It is our aim to advise each donor how their gifts are being used. If you have made a donation and not received indication of how your gift was used, please contact us.
1. Project Sponsorship
We have two policies that we adhere to strictly in offering support for projects. Firstly, we do not hand over money, because we are not a ‘funding’ organisation. We receive many such requests but turn them all down. If we are able to help, we provide goods and services, and we ensure that materials get to the project site and are used on the project. Any project we support, we also involve ourselves in supervision or follow up as far as possible.
Secondly, we do not help individuals, but only communities. Therefore we do not support private housing, or boats etc, but only things such as clinics, schools, water supply etc. which benefit whole communities.
2. Relief Support
We offer assistance to needy families and communities. This assistance is usually by way of clothing or food, and assistance with medical or education costs for children. Sponsorship for education costs for poor students can be arranged. Since the economic downturn in Solomon Islands, the needs are greater than we (or others) are able to meet.
3. Missionary Sponsorship
While the running of the Base and all infrastructure costs are being met by the Christian Reformed Churches of Australia, our missionary families are dependent upon personal sponsorship, the rates being set and supervised by the Australian Churches. The current levels required for each missionary family is $16,000Au per year. Support for missionary sponsorship is therefore also most welcome and appreciated. This could come from congregations, individuals, groups or businesses etc. Please indicate which family you prefer to support. Non targeted sponsorship support will be allocated on needs basis.
4. How to support: “SWIM Solomon Islands”
To assist us with accountability, we request that all support and monetary gifts be sent to our Churches’ Office in Australia, where it will be properly recorded before being forwarded to us. For further information, contact us.
Please indicate name and address for receipting purposes and advise how you would like your gift to be used.
